The Arco de São Jorge parish is situated a northeast of Madeira Island, in Santana council, between São Jorge e Boaventura parishes.

The villa has 520 habitants evolved in a magnificent panorama by the blue of the sea and green of the mountains.

His climate its particular, with lot of sun in the summer and rain in the winter, here as average annual temperatures of 16ºC. 

The fertile lands in Arco de São Jorge parish are great to agriculture, principally for the cultivation of vineyards, cereals, legumes and wicker.

The parish has beautiful and interesting quintas to visit, as for example, the Quinta do Arco that was one of the bigger gardens of roses in Europe. Next to the quinta we can find a Tea House, perfect to rest and enjoy the beautiful view to Arco de São Jorge parish.

Arco de São Jorge parish has a unique geology, surrounded by huge mountains that home the high winds. This land stays close to the old Vulcan that exists in the island. The microclimate it`s other big factor in this parish that makes the lands fertile perfect to the agriculture. The cultivation of vineyards is common in this parish and it`s here that is used one of the species to do the Madeira Wine.
