Return to the time of the discovery of the island, and walk inside the Laurissilva forest, one of the seven wonders of Portugal.
Walking through this levada we realize it must have been pretty, in 1419, when Portuguese sailors landed to explore this island’s unique vegetation. The Levada do Rei is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful levadas of Madeira. During the first part of the course we will walk into an exotic forest mainly composed of some specimens of introduced flora. After 30 minutes, we enter in one of the most well-preserved areas of the Laurissilva Forest (UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999 and one of the seven wonders of Portugal). Here we can observe, in abundance, the large number of endemic flora and fauna of our island.
