The Arco de São Jorge parish is one of the places in Madeira Island here has the best’s limpets. When the sea permit, the rocks near the Arco de São Jorge sea shoes the quantity of limpets that this rocks have. 

Every more, the residents in the island like to chase limpets and snack this spectacular shellfish.

Because of this big influence of limpets in the north coast of Madeira, happens in Paúl do Mar the Limpets Party in July.

To do the grilled limpets is necessary:
Limpets
Butter
Garlic
Lemon
Salt

Wash well the limpets to take off the sand that still has. After this, melts the butter in a pan.

Put the limpets in a frying pan and put the butter that had melt on the limpets with the chopped garlic. At last, after the limpets being grilled we put the lemon juice on.

This speciality it`s very appreciated by the residents and increasingly by the tourists.
