São Vicente civil parish is situated in the northern part of Madeira Island. This is one of the three parishes which comprises São Vicente municipality.

This beaufiful region has been carefully engraved by the green nature and the abundant forest adjoining it, first carved by volcanic forces, and then by the work carried out by erosion on the beautiful hillsides surrounding the village.

São Vicente is one of the most beautiful picturesque spots of Madeira Island. Its breathtaking scenery and the recently restored village centre, along with a remarkable architectural framework, makes this village one of the most visited places of Madeira.

The population, initially hidden between the capricious hide-outs offered by the landscape, today is spread out through the entire civil parish.

It’s main economic activities are agriculture and fishing, although it has begun to promote itself as a rural tourism destination.
