Bird watching is one of the most appreciated activities in the Archipelago of Madeira, due to its excellent conditions.
The Archipelago of Madeira is well known for its seabird colonies and thus, it possesses a small number of amazing land birds.
There are 43 confined breeding species in all archipelago, 21% being endemic species and subspecies to Madeira and 33% to Macaronesia.
The most outstandind endemic species are Zino’s Petrel (Pterodoma madeira), the Trocaz Pigeon (Columba trocaz), Firecrest (Regulus ignicapilla madeirensis), and Common Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs madeirensis).
