São Jorge parish has a unique handcraft musical instrument in Madeira known as Bexigoncelo.

The name of this instrument become of the materials that is made. This instrument it`s constituted by a rod which is superimposed, at one end, a pig`s bladder where his unique cord is made of pig gut.

The Bexigoncelo has a bass and reminds an acoustic bass.
